Shooting for Peace Gets On CCSD Calendar To Empower Students at Durango High School: Financial Literacy and Life Skills for the Next Generation

Shooting for Peace Gets On CCSD Calendar To Empower Students at Durango High School: Financial Literacy and Life Skills for the Next Generation

On November 25, 2025, the Shooting for Peace movement continued its nationwide mission—this time inside the heart of Durango High School, part of the Clark County School District (CCSD) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nearly 100 students gathered inside the school’s library for an empowering session led by Doug Lee, NBRPA Las Vegas Chapter President and a respected business owner in the Las Vegas Valley.

This was more than a talk. This was a moment of clarity, mentorship, and real-world education for students who are actively shaping their futures.

A Classroom Turned Launchpad for Life

From the moment students filled the library, the setting felt more like a masterclass than a school event. Doug Lee connected instantly with the room—not through celebrity or hype—but through authenticity, tough truths, and practical wisdom.

His message was simple, but powerful:
Discipline, financial literacy, and strong life skills are the foundation for every successful pathway.

Doug shared stories from his own business journey, breaking down how focus, consistency, and smart money decisions helped him navigate entrepreneurship and build a career rooted in service and leadership.

“Your choices today echo in your future,” he told the group. “If you understand money early, you stay in control of the life you want to build.”

Financial Literacy: CCSD Calendar Event and Skill that Students Need Now More Than Ever

With being on CCSD calendar Shooting For Peace knows it has a big responsibility. With CCSD  being one of the largest and most diverse school districts in the country, the need for financial literacy and real-life skills has never been greater. Doug walked students through concepts like:

  • Budgeting and saving

  • Understanding credit and interest

  • Avoiding debt traps

  • Planning for long-term goals

  • Creating disciplined habits that lead to opportunity

Students remained engaged and responsive, asking thoughtful questions about money management, business ownership, and navigating adult responsibilities.

For many, this was their first real introduction to financial education delivered through a lens they could relate to—community, culture, and lived experience.

Life Skills, Mindset, and the Importance of Discipline

Doug also emphasized the personal side of success—discipline, accountability, and character.
He reminded students that talent might open doors, but discipline is what keeps them open.

Whether a student planned to pursue college, a trade, entrepreneurship, or athletics, the message resonated across the board:
You are responsible for your future, and the work starts now.
