Future Pros Basketball Clinic Los Angeles: Shooting For Peace Hosts Impactful Activation at LA Southwest College

On February 12th, Shooting For Peace delivered another high-impact Future Pros Basketball Clinic — this time at LA Southwest Community College in Los Angeles.

From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., youth athletes participated in a full-court activation that combined basketball development, financial literacy, mentorship, media training, and wellness — all under one roof.

This wasn’t just a clinic. It was a pipeline.

Future Pros: More Than a Basketball Clinic

The Future Pros model under Shooting For Peace is designed to expose youth to more than just the game.

Yes, there were multiple basketball skill stations.

But there was also:

  • Media training to help students understand branding and communication
  • Yoga and wellness sessions focused on flexibility and recovery
  • Financial literacy insights from corporate partners
  • Mentorship from professional athletes and community leaders
  • Food provided for participants (because energy matters)

This is how development should look — holistic and intentional.

JP Morgan Chase Brings Financial Literacy to the Court

Corporate partnership matters when it translates into real value.

JP Morgan Chase participated in the activation, speaking directly to the youth about financial literacy and long-term thinking.

The message was clear: talent is important — but knowledge of money, credit, and opportunity multiplies that talent.

When major financial institutions invest time into youth spaces, it shifts perspective.

Legends of Basketball Las Vegas Chapter Shows Up

The court was filled with leadership and experience.

Members of the Legends of Basketball – Las Vegas Chapter were present, alongside
Jerome “JYD” Williams, bringing mentorship, structure, and accountability to the clinic.

Eric “Broadway” Jones facilitated the entire event, ensuring the flow, structure, and energy stayed tight from start to finish.

This is what youth activation looks like when leadership is involved.

Community Partners: Drew League Foundation + LA Junior Sparks

This event was strengthened by key local partners who understand youth culture and basketball development.

LA Junior Sparks members helped coach at the stations, working directly with the athletes on skill development and fundamentals.

The combination of structured drills, mentorship, and real engagement created an environment where the kids weren’t just participating — they were locked in.

From Basketball to Media to Wellness

The Future Pros activation included multiple development stations:

  • Basketball skill drills
  • Media training exposure
  • Yoga and wellness training
  • Financial literacy discussion

And yes — the kids were fed pizza. Because details matter.

Energy stayed high. Engagement stayed strong. And the feedback was clear: the youth enjoyed the experience.
