Shooting For Peace Brings Financial Literacy, Coding, and AI Education to LAUSD During 2026 All-Star Weekend

Discovery Education, and key community leaders, we delivered a full-day activation focused on what matters most:
Financial literacy. Technology. AI education. Career exposure. And real access.
While the city celebrated basketball, we made sure students were building skills that last far beyond the weekend.
Capital One Leads Interactive Coding + Financial Literacy Experience for NAF Students
One of the highlights of the day was an exclusive interactive session led by
Capital One for specially selected
NAF students.
This wasn’t a sit-and-listen presentation. It was hands-on.
Students participated in:
- An interactive coding project
- A practical financial literacy workshop
- Real conversations about career pathways in tech and finance

Auditorium Presentation: Legends of Basketball + AI Education for the Entire School
While the NAF students engaged in the coding lab, the rest of the school filled the auditorium for a powerful session led by Legends of Basketball and industry leaders.
Featured speakers included:

- Rick Darnell
- Duana Malone (“The Tech Queen”)
The message was clear: Success isn’t accidental. It’s intentional.
Jerome Williams shared the mindset behind longevity and leadership.
Eric Jones and Rick Darnell reinforced discipline, preparation, and accountability.
And Duana Malone broke down what AI means for students right now — not five years from now.
AI isn’t the future. It’s already here.
And students need to understand how to position themselves accordingly.
